The Xeranthemum Annuum is also known as the Immortelle or Everlasting flower. So, it is not surprising that it represents immortality and eternity symbolically.

It thrives in dry and sunny weather temperatures and has flower heads that resemble small daisies which also isn’t surprising since the plant belongs to the same family as the daisy flower.

 The Xeranthemum Lumina is another one of the annual flowers that start with X and, similarly to the sunflower, it belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is also native to Southern Europe and comes in silvery, crimson, white, purple and lilac colors that are truly a sight to behold.

As a matter of fact, the flower is so spectacular that it won the Fleuroselect Award which proves how intricate and dynamic the Xeranthemum Lumina truly is.

If you’re hoping to see the award-winning flower in full bloom, be sure to stick around between July to September for the summer when the Xeranthemum Lumina is at its finest. Seeing them in bloom will feel as if you have just walked into a fairytale.

The fragile blossoms are two inches across in size which makes them reasonably small for flowers, but as we all know, some of the most precious things in life come in small packages. The flower comes in a beautiful, soft, yellow color,  thrives in wet and sandy terrains and can often be found growing in ditches and soil pond margins. It blooms during the summer from July to September so be sure to schedule your time accordingly if you want to see the flower in full bloom.

Xylosma Congestum is a shrub that, similarly to the Willow, belongs to the Salicaceae family. It is one of the plants that start with X that is native to China and is also known as Dense Longwood.

The plant is yellow-green in color and is considered to be an evergreen tree that has different bloom dates for different climates. Also, the shrub has small, yellow flowers that make it a flowering shrub and add to the plant’s overall beauty.

6. Xerophyllum Tenax

Xerophyllum Tenax, also known as Indian Basket Grass, is a stout perennial plant that, similarly to the Lily, belongs to the Liliaceae plant family. It is native to western North America where it grows freely in open fields.

Xerophyllum Tenax is often used to decorate baskets and bouquets, but some of the smaller leaves have also been used to make dresses. The plant has a long, green stem and has white leaves at the top that completes its image.

Unfortunately, Xerophyllum Tenax is one of 14 similar plant species that are known to be toxic to humans. So, it is best not to ingest any of this plant.

When it grows freely the cotton-like spectacle certainly makes this seem like one of the more spectacular plants that start with X. Xerophyllum Tenax is also loved as food amongst bears who eat the small leaves and deer who eat the flowers. Talk about a plant with many uses!

Xylobium Colleyi is a gorgeous perennial plant that, similarly to the orchid, is another one of the flowers that start with X that belong to the Orchidaceae family. The plant usually has one to three leaves and is native to the tropical areas of America.

Roughly 34 species of plants fall under the Xylobium Colleyi category which shows how diverse the plant really is. Also, Xylobium Colleyi has a succulent-like, watery texture which makes it one of the more interesting flowers that start with X.

It is a truly beautiful flower that was named after it’s stems that have a woody texture. You cannot go wrong with planting this flower in your already-spectacular garden. The flowers are less than one inch in diameter which makes them reasonably small, but no less beautiful.

It has an average-sized brown trunk that splits into different, thinner branches. At the top of the branches you will find awe-striking white flowers that make the tree look like a winter wonderland during the blooming season.

In case you want to avoid missing it, the Xanthoceras Sorbifolium tree blooms in May, so be sure to stick around during this time. The tree’s flowers have a pleasant scent.
